The Maryland Technology Academy Satellite Program is an offshoot of the Leadership Program. In the 2000 Maryland General Assembly, funding was provided to establish 20 MTA Satellite Programs reaching 600 additional educators. The purpose of the Satellite Program is to provide these educators with a modified experience of the Leadership Program, focusing on technology integration in a particular content area or grade level, depending on regional need, in order to support the Maryland Content Standards. This is accomplished through 2-week summer sessions and at least two required follow-up sessions. The Satellite Programs are developed and administrated through Regional Professional Development Networks (RPDNs) in response to an MSDE Request for Proposals (RFP).
Proposal Development Process: a collaborative work group, led by the RPDN coordinator, should develop a proposal which includes proposed program(s). The workgroup should include Academy Fellows, central office staff from each school district within the RPDN (e.g. members of the Technology, Library Media, Content Areas, and/or Staff Development offices,) and representatives from higher education. |
